Staying Real Online

This week in Ms. Payseurs class we learned about how to be true to yourself online. We also learned technology etiquette for when you are out in the world. It was a lot of fun in her class on how to use this really cool website called Glogster. We also learned some new terms that really helped me understand how to be yourself online.

The terms we learned this week are represent, persona, avatar, anonymous, and inhibited.  The word represented means how you present yourself to others. An example of this could be if you go to a fancy restaurant and you can either present yourself in a positive way or a negative way. The word persona means image you portray to others.  Sort of like a picture online. Avatar is a graphic that represents you online. It is a cartoon of mythical creature that represents you.Anonymous is a hidden identity. Sort of like an anonymous source on the news. Inhibited is careful about your actions or impulse. Kind of like when you were a little kid your mom always telling you to be careful about every little thing.

The next thing that we learned how to use was this really cool website called Glogster. Glogster is basically a photo blog. It was used by my 9th Grade class to make this glog about staying real online.
Some of the positives for this website were it was real easy to use. It was easy to upload pictures to the site also. It was laid out very good and was easy to navigate around the site. The Negative that I have mainly is that when resizing things it will not let you just make them shorter or longer you had to make the whole thing smaller. Those were the main problems I had with it. Otherwise it was a great site to use.

The next major thing I want to tell about is our digital literacy components learned this week.
The first thing we learned about was staying real and true to yourself online. This very important because it can hurt you and your future. It is important to be yourself online because if you are being fake and someone finds out who would believe you or trust you ever again. That is just a couple consequence but, there is many more consequences out there and don't explore them through experience. Stay true to yourself.

We also learned about technology etiquette. If you don't know what this is it is basically just regular  etiquette but, when you are on electronics. If someone calls you on your cellphone and you are in a movie theater. The wrong thing to do would be to answer the phone and carry on a conversation. The right thing to do would be to drop the call step out into the lobby and return the call. That is basically all technology etiquette is. We use this cool website called Digital Drivers License to learn this.

This new information I have learned will hopefully stay away from being fake online and also being respectful while using my electronics.

Overall My week has been pretty good. We got the exact move in date for when we can move into our new building. Iam ready for a happy restful weekend with my family.

Excited girl.
