1. Topic:
  • What is the topic of your article?
The topic of my article is about how a guy broke the
Guinness World Record for longest video game marathon.

2. Article Title: 1 pt.
  • What is the title of your article? Exact wording.
Guinness World Record for longest video game marathon broken
3. Article Source: 1 pt.

4. Summary:
  • Briefly, and in your own words, summarize the content of the article.
  • 3 sentence minimum
The article is about how this guy is has been playing call of duty black ops 2  for 121 hours straight. He has broken the Guinness world record for longest video marathon. He is still playing as we speak and continuing this long video gaming streak.
5. Reaction

  •  I think that this is not really that big of an accomplishment. I feel people should find something better to do with their time like get a job. This event does not affect me in anyway because I have better things to do with my life besides play video games all day. There is not really an issue but it is encouraging more people to play the game. Which in turn will make more money for the company.

6. World Impact: 6 pt.        This event does not really impact the world that much. It may cause the call of duty makers to buy some companies out and put them out of business. It will also probably cause some peoples vision to get worse because they are starring at a T.V screen all day. It may cause the obesity rate to go up because kids are not going out side and playing as much. Which can cause the death rate to go up.

Identity theft

This week we learned about a few things that are very useful in everyday life when on the intranet.  We learned about identity theft, people how they try to scam you online, and the information they try to steal from you.

First I want to describe a couple of terms that we learned. The first one is scams. Scams are an attempt to trick someone with the intention of stealing your money or your private information. It is like when you get emails that want you to confirm your bank account number. The next one is Identity theft. Identity theft is where someone steals your private information and uses it for criminal activity. The word is vulnerable and it means a position that makes it easier for you to be harmed or attacked. The last one is phishing no not with a rod and reel. Phishing I when people send you emails texts pop-ups to lure you to a fake website to try to get your personal information. Which will lead to our digital literacy component.

The main thing we learned about was how and what kind of information people try to steal from you online. The types of information that people try to steal from you are : bank account numbers, social security numbers, addresses, your full name, and your drivers licences number.

Some of the following things can happen to you if your identity is stolen: accounts hacked, jail, money stolen, get in trouble with your parents, debt, and you could go bankrupt.

The five rules to protect yourself from scams can help from these things ever happening.

  • Avoid opening the message or email in the first place if you know its a scam.
  • Don't click on any links or download any attachments that may contain spyware or viruses.
  • Don't reply to these messages or emails.
  • Mark these types of messages or emails as junk mail or spam for your email provider, or report it to your social network site.
  • If you are concerned about an account you have with a company, contact its customer service department by phone. Make sure you verify the companies information elsewhere online first.

This new information about how scamers try to steal your information online will hopefuly keep my information safe from scamers. It will help me be more careful online.

As always I am ready for a fun restful weekend as I am sure everyone is. Now all y'all viewers be safe online and use the information shared.

Data Tracking

This week in Ms. Payseurs class we learned about how people track your data online. We learned how people track your data through schemes and other types of ways. We also learned how to use this online scrapbook called Mixbook.

The new terms we learned this week were track, target, demographic, cookies. The first term we learned about was track. Tracking online is when companies collect information about you based on your online behavior. Another term we learned was target. A target is when companies tailor content to you based on the information they have collected about you. When you go on Google or some other kind of search engine it gives you suggestions this is the same thing. Demographic is common categories of the population such as age, gender, and race. Cookies are data files stores on your computer when you visit certain sites, which are often used companies to identify a repeat customer. They use these to personalize a customers experience.

This all tied in with our digital literacy component. The digital literacy component is why companies track your data and what they do with it. The reason companies track your data is because when they track it they can sell it for money.  A couple of main  ways you can avoid this are When you play a game online that you have to sign up for make sure you read the terns of use. Another main way you can avoid it is by changing your computer setting to restrict cookies.  Then after they collect your information and they sell it you may start to get a lot of spam on your E-mail and other types of things.

The next cool thing we leaned how to use was this website called Mixbook.  Basically  Mixbook is a online scrapbook. It lets you do almost anything you would want to do with a regular hard copy scrapbook. The best part about is it is free to make it just costs you to get it published. The positive things about this is it was pretty easy to use. It was kind of easy to navigate around the site  It was also easy to upload pictures. The negatives of this site were it was not very  easy to change the size of your text boxes. That was really the only main problem I had with it they could still try to make it easier to navigate around the site. This is the mixbook that I created to

The new information I have learned this week will help me keep my information safe from people that may be tracking me. For the most part this week has been pretty good. We are having a lot of fun in our brand new building. I am having a lot of fun with spirit week. Most of the teacher of been awesome. I am making good grades and have some pretty cool friends.

As always ready for a long restful weekend. Yall be good now ya here.

Current events assignment

1. Topic:
My topic is about how people were on twitter last night tweeting about the presidential election.
2. Article Title: America Tweeted Till Its Fingers Bled Last Night
3. Article Source:
4. Summary:
My article is about how so many people were on twitter last night.  It talks about how most of the posts were made by democrats.  It also talks about how the record was broken last night but record was beaten previous during the first presidential debate.
    5. Reaction:.
I personally believe that people get to worked up over the presidential election. I think that people should not discuss things like this online. I feel that people should not talk about the election online because people can be offended. This event did not really affect me because I was not online discussing this event. It also does not affect me because I do not use twitter.
      6. World Impact:
This event impacts the world because when people talk about things that can cause people to get into an argument over things such as the elections. It will give twitter a bad name also because of some of the things may do if they get mad. It could also cause twitter to lose users. It can also cause riots to brake out because things that happen online can cause people to do things out in the world. It can be very harmful to people because things that happen online can be seen by everybody and could cause people to lose their jobs. They can lose their jobs just because of what their political views might be or just the way they acted.
